At York Young Professionals (YYP), we’re a community of young, civic-minded professionals committed to making York a better place to live, work, and play. Since our founding in 1999, our mission has been to act as a catalyst for progress, bringing together driven individuals, community stakeholders, and the businesses that call York home. Through a year-round calendar of networking meet-ups, social events, professional development opportunities, and volunteer outreach, YYP creates the space for meaningful connection, personal growth, and community impact.
Whether you’re sharpening your leadership skills, building your professional profile, giving back, or simply having fun and meeting great people, we’re here for it. Our membership is diverse, welcoming those with a “young-mind” attitude. While our median member age hovers between 25–35, we believe “young” is a mindset — so if you’re ready to make connections and contribute, you belong here.
Mission
The mission of YYP is to serve as a catalyst for progress in making the City of York a more enjoyable and vibrant place to live, work, and play.
Structure
YYP is led by a voluntary Board of Directors. Within the Board, there are the offices of President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer.
YYP has size standing committees lead by a Chairperson who serves on the Board. The Chairpersons of the committees are nominated by the Nominating Committee and approved by majority vote of the Board of Directors. All YYP members are invited to serve on one or more committee. The committees are:
